RE Conference - Sharing Through Stories

Thursday 9th May | 8:45 AM to 3:30 PM | Mere Court Hotel | Knutsford

This year’s conference will take place in the beautiful country house setting of Mere Court Hotel in Knutsford.

The theme of the conference is around scriptural reasoning - sharing stories across world faiths.

This day will be inspiring for those leaders of RE in primary settings and would be of interest to those seeking to enrich children's approach to the study of story in the English curriculum or consider the power of story to the schools' understanding of the spirituality.

Our morning session is led by Dr Anne Moseley. Anne is a founder of the Story Tent initiative which aims to create a hospitable space where pupils can explore interfaith dialogue through the power of shared stories, whilst developing skills and characteristics of openness, curiosity, communication, interpretation and respect. We will hear from a primary school who has implemented the initiative and how it has proved to be positive learning experience for the children.

We will also be joined by members of the local faith communities, including Imran Kotwal, from the Muslim Learner Service; Michelle Hayward, a practicing Jewess and Bisakha Sarker MBE, trained in classical and creative Indian dance. They will all share their stories and develop our own subject knowledge, inspiring our schools to develop their work or world faiths and views.
